Dreamy Eggnog Custard
This dreamy eggnog custard is rich, smooth, and gently spiced with nutmeg and cinnamon for a cozy holiday flavor. A blend of milk, cream, and warm vanilla-rum notes creates a classic baked dessert that feels extra indulgent.
Ingredients:
- 3 cups Prairie Farms 2% Reduced Fat Milk
- 1/2 cup Prairie Farms Half & Half
- 1/2 cup Prairie Farms Whipping Cream
- 6 eggs
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tsp rum flavoring
- 1 Tbsp vanilla
- nutmeg and/or cinnamon
Directions:
- Combine Milk, half & half and whipping cream in large pot and slowly heat until steaming.
- Whisk until well blended eggs, granulated sugar, brown sugar and salt.
- Once steaming, slowly pour about 1/2 cup milk mixture into egg mixture while whisking to temper eggs.
- Repeat with another 1/2 cup milk mixture, then slowly pour remaining milk mixture into eggs while gently whisking and stir until sugars are dissolved.
- Add vanilla and rum extract before pouring custard into serving cups.
- Have serving cups ready in hot water bath and pour into cups. Sprinkle each cup with nutmeg and/or cinnamon.
- Bake at 325 °F for about 50 minutes. Custard should be set but not browned on top. It should still wiggle bit in middle.
- Take out of oven and let cool for at least 30 minutes before setting in refrigerator.
- Serve chilled.
