Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. In a large mixing bowl combine dry ingredients; wheat flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. In a smaller mixing bowl combine softened butter, molasses, buttermilk and egg.
  3. Combine wet ingredients to dry ingredients and mix until the mixture forms into a dough.
  4. Sprinkle flour to a clean counter top and knead dough. Add flour so the dough doesn't stick to the counter and knead a few times until dough is a smooth ball. Transfer to a floured baking sheet.
  5. Cut an 'x' on top of the dough with a sharp knife. Brush dough with melted butter.
  6. Bake in the oven for 35 minutes until dough is a dark and golden and cracks start to appear. You should be able to knock on the dough and hear a hollow sound.
  7. Remove from oven and while still warm brush with remaining butter and dust, lightly, with flour. Enjoy warm with butter!
